Prosper launch Maisons du Monde in the UK

Home décor brand Maisons du Monde appointed Prosper to manage the opening of three flagship concessions in Debenhams stores. Working closely with their internal team we delivered concessions at Westfield Shepherd’s Bush, Birmingham Bullring and central Manchester in under three months, realising the brand’s first UK retail presence in record time.

Bringing international décor to the UK

Prosper was responsible for bringing the design to life through our architectural and implementation services.

We began with a trip to France to immerse ourselves in the Maisons du Monde brand and understand their retail vision. By coupling this understanding with intimate knowledge of each space, Prosper were able to create site specific drawings that ensured Maisons du Monde was beautifully presented in each location. Our international team played a key role in project managing the fit-outs and ensuring great communication between the client, retailer and contractors.

Founded in Brest, France in 1990, Maisons du Monde has over 300 outlets across Europe and the Middle East. The brand already has a strong online customer base in the UK and has plans to open stand alone stores next year.

Prosper's Senior International Architect, Jérôme Garnier said: “Delivering the first UK stores for a brand that has a bold character like Maisons du Monde was an incredibly challenging but exciting opportunity for us. Bringing an international store to the UK requires a design team with not only strong retail experience but also international architectural knowledge. We were able to utilise our relevant language capabilities. As most of the suppliers were French, we played a key role liaising between them, their distributors, the client and the contractors on site at the Debenhams stores.”

Understanding the client vision

“Visiting the client in France was essential to ensure we absorbed their vision and understood the key specifications they had, such as warm ambience and focused lighting. It was great to work with a client that understands and values good design and great creativity just as we do. I’m confident the first UK stores will get the seal of approval from Maisons du Monde’s style-conscious consumers”.
