Westgate Shopping Centre, Oxford

Primark appointed Prosper to refurbish their 40,000 sq.ft unit within the new Westgate Centre.

Initially tasked with carrying out a feasibility study for the retail giant and assisting with landlord negotiations, Prosper’s studio went on to produce architectural drawings and store layout. As part of the full architectural service, the team coordinated the refurbishment of the store, liaising with the client’s consultant to make sure the space was designed to specification and in line with original drawings.

Prosper has worked with Primark for more than 20 years delivering stores in the UK, Ireland, France and Spain. Working on stores from Feasibility stage through to Store opening. Prosper is also the guardian of Primark’s standard store fit out details and manage the database which houses these.

In addition to the architectural work undertaken for Primark, Prosper worked closely with French opticians Acuitis to implement the concept design and format for their store at the Westgate centre. Acuitis’ Oxford branch is the third to open in the UK. Working collaboratively with the main contractor, Prosper delivered a very tight programme to ensure the fit out met the high standards required by the client. The project’s logistics presented a further challenge as the team had to work inside the developer’s site alongside over 80 other retailers who were fitting out their stores at the same time.
